Lecithin is the principal component of the human body's cells and generally consists of 10-20% phosphatidyl choline (PC). As a supplier of choline, PC is needed to maintain cell membrane integrity and to facilitate the movement of fats in and out of cells, as well as ions, wastes, and nutrients. Lecithin protects cells from oxidation and largely composes the protective sheaths surrounding the brain.
